Sarah Williams is a spirited, independent Aussie who has always dreamed of New York City. So when a job opportunity arises to become an au pair for a successful businessman in the heart of Manhattan, Sarah jumps at the chance to follow her dream.

What she didn't bet on was a beautiful newborn and a distant, abrasive man whose eyes hold a million anguished secrets. Determined to care for his daughter and face the challenges of the impossible Ben Worthington, Sarah was always prepared to follow her heart; she just wasn't prepared to lose it to a complicated man like Ben.

What another fun and entertaining read that New York Nights turned out to be! I'm loving these Aussie girls, who are pushing themselves out of their comfort zones to chase their dreams overseas. The second book in the Heart of the City series featured Sarah, as she set off to America to become an au pair.

Sarah was a character I liked right from the start! Although she was in a foreign country and well out of her comfort zone, she was confident and spoke her thoughts. She landed her new role, not quite understanding what she had gotten herself into. The Worthington family had a lot of secrets and would avoid confronting them at all costs.

The sexual tension between Sarah and Ben developed quickly, but both of them tried so hard not to cross the line. Ben was a handsome, but broody single father, that was finding it hard being a new parent. He immersed himself into his work and spent limited time at home. Like Sarah, I didn't understand why he did so until little twists were revealed, and each one made me gasp!

New York Nights was a light, quick read that I demolished within a day. My only complaint, I would've liked to see Sarah and Ben get to know each other over a few months instead of a few weeks to give more depth to them as a couple. Other than that it was quite the entertaining read: with a little drama, a few scandals and a cute little girl named Grace that stole my heart!

The build up to this moment was incredible! I could see what they both wanted, but they found it hard to get there!

I stopped dead in my tracks.
There, blocking the stairs, was Ben, and in that stunned silence, it was never more clear: we both wanted the same thing, to hell with the consequences. After all, it was our world now.
And as if reading my mind, he moved. He took determined steps, closing the distance to where I stood. Then he kissed me, pushing me against the wall and pinning me there with the warmth of his body. Nothing romantic, nothing tender or soft, just pure need. He pushed, I pulled, there seemed too much space between us even as he crushed his body against mine.
